The Architect of Elysia (The Deian Chronicles, #0.5) ![]() Overall, an enjoyable read, and those that have enjoyed the first book will likely get more out of it. I’m also not a huge fan of the writing style. I prefer it when I can jump into a prequel without having to have read the series so far, but reading it enhances your experience. It feels like a lot of the magic and world was covered in more detail in the first book and because I jumped straight into this, I was expected to know about this already. The setting seems to jump back and forth, but it might be due to the teleportation, which wasn’t really cleared up. ![]() ![]() While the world building, setting and magic were interesting and vivid, i felt lost and confused by it quite a bit. The last parts of the story were emotional and impactful, and I got sad. Though the story is fast paced and doesn’t slog. The other characters that I could pick out were interesting and distinctive, though I lost track of some due to things moving too fast at times. Jonathan is very easy to root for, and I really wanted things for him to go right in balancing his life. To be fair, I didn’t read The Elysian Prophecy at all prior to picking this up.įirst the good. A prequel to the Deian Chroncles, this chronicles Jonathan, who’s apparently a ghost in the main series, trying to care for his family and works on his magic. ![]()
